We are currently looking to add an IT Infrastructure Manager to assist the IT Operations Director in the delivery of all infrastructure strategy and to lead the IT Infrastructure Services team in the delivery of service to Radius Payment Solutions. This position will report directly to the IT Operations Director and will be located at the group’s Head Office in Crewe, Cheshire, UK.

What will you be doing as an IT Infrastructure Manager?

Typical work activities include:

  • Creates an atmosphere of collaboration within the Infrastructure team that emphasises teamwork and accountability and a focus on the customer.
  • Works with business unit executives and IT management to define infrastructure support initiatives and solutions for improving service efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Analyses and predicts trends and develops long-range plans designed to maintain cost effectiveness and competitiveness of the company’s IT infrastructure.
  • Actively participates in IT strategy planning activities, bringing current knowledge and future vision of infrastructure technology, systems, both emergent and good practice as related to the needs of the business.
  • Proactively researches and recommends courses of action to prevent problems and to maintain high infrastructure service levels for our internal customers.
  • Ensures policies are developed and implemented according to all applicable regulations.
  • Mentors, supports and oversees the Infrastructure team and works with the IT Operations Director to develop and maintain staff succession plans ensuring mentoring and development opportunities are made and progressed where appropriate.
  • Takes ownership and leadership of infrastructure activities, including new technical areas.
  • Provides technical designs and guidance for other team members taking responsibility for the implications and impact of design decisions.
  • Undertakes thorough impact analysis of all assigned infrastructure activities and understands the impact of their work on infrastructure systems and the business.
  • Demonstrates a proactive approach in helping to mitigate risks, improve quality in an efficient manner and resolve issues that do occur.
  • Creates and maintains documentation to support all infrastructure technology in the organisation and ensure change management processes are followed for all system changes.
  • Leads in the rollout of new hardware/software, office expansions, new offices, etc as required.

What experience/skills/attributes do you need?

The essential skills/attributes are: -

  • Strong people management skills - must be able to lead and motivate a team of technical staff with strong interpersonal communications skills and build and develop a highly competent team of technical staff with a service orientation.
  • Ability to manage customer expectations and SLA’s and prioritise conflicting requirements.
  • Ability to keep up to date with technology trends and to understand key technical drivers in the industry.
  • Ability to drive performance in technical and operational groups through the development of process, policy, procedure and guidelines. Demonstrates willingness to make decisions within delegated level of authority. Takes ownership of problems and incidents.
  • Infrastructure System knowledge gained in a professional services/project organisation and/or technical environment.
  • Proven experience of the following technologies:
    • Windows Server
    • Office 365
    • Active Directory
    • Desktop Operating Systems
    • Virtualisation technologies (VMware preferred)
    • Cloud hosting (AWS and Azure preferred)
    • Cisco Networking and Unified Communications
  • Knowledge of IT Security fundamentals.
  • Experience of planning and implementing systems and network integrations and cloud migrations.
  • Remote diagnostics and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity of data centre environments.


The desirable skills/additional ideal experiences should include :-

  • A thorough understanding of Service Management disciplines, ideally using the ITIL framework.
  • Ability to develop mutual beneficial relationships with customers and vendors which results in a shared understanding of needs and objectives.
  • Ability to resolve conflict through negotiation and relationship building rather than formal authority structures.
  • Ability to solve complex and ambiguous problems anticipating dependencies and interrelationships. Highly developed problem-solving skills to resolve service problems and incidents using staff resources and service provider capabilities.
  • Experience of working alongside application development teams, supporting and advising on best practice to maintain performance and availability.
  • Certifications in one or more of the following areas would be a significant advantage.
    • Microsoft technologies
    • ITIL
    • VMWare VCP
    • Cisco CCNA/CCNP
  • Familiarity with Service Desk ticketing systems
