As an industry leading payment solutions provider, we are seeking an experienced, motivated and focused Java Developer to join our growing IT team at our technology hub in Manchester.

What will you be doing as a Java Developer?

  • Working across the full development lifecycle and covering development, system improvements and application support.
  • Designing and developing web services.
  • Using best practice and working to coding standards.
  • Interpreting software needs and developing concept and final solutions to meet their objectives.
  • Thinking creatively to bring new ideas and concepts to the existing application.
  • Estimating the time required to complete work, providing the finished items in line with the original estimate.
  • Working independently or as part of a development team to fulfil the business needs and objectives.
  • Presenting ideas and concepts to the Software Manager and the development team.
  • Ensuring quality delivery of software including creating documentation and completing testing and code reviews where needed.

 What experience/skills/attributes do you need?

  • Minimum of HND or Degree with appropriate experience in computing/software engineering or related discipline.
  • Strong core Java skills.
  • Experience in the development and design of web applications in a JEE environment.
  • Experience with Hibernate, Spring, HTML.
  • Exposure to database technologies, ideally Oracle.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with all levels in the department.


  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks.
  • Experience developing SOAP/REST-based applications.
  • Knowledge of unit testing using JUnit/TestNG and mocking frameworks.
  • Experience using modern version control software (such as Mercurial or Git).
