What will you be doing as a Technical Lead

Here at Radius we are building the next generation of Telematic products opening up new markets and disrupting the old. To do this and to do this safely at speed we are reinventing our teams with the next generation of agility in mind. Cross-Functional Squads, where Mastery and Purpose combine with strategically aligned Autonomy to create highly engaged Value centric delivery teams.

We are looking for software craftsmen, agile ninjas and clean code experts to guide, mentor and build out our delivery squads.

You will technically lead an agile squad of engineers using a mixture of Lean and Scrum combined with common sense and pragmatism to continuously seek better ways of delivering value through software development.

A geek at heart you love software engineering but also have great people and communication skills. You should also be passionate about technology and its implementation and instil this passion in others. As the leader of cross functional teams using different tools and languages you will need to listen and adapt as well as coach, mentor and advise.

Hands-on and at the top of you game in either Python or Java (preferably both) and experience of at least one similar role, we are looking for people who can integrate quickly and move from contributing to enabling in a very short period of time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining and evolving our different products
  • Contributing to key design decisions in collaboration with our Product Owners
  • Designing and developing the platform according to our strategic goals
  • Enabling innovation with new and interesting ideas for our products, services and processes
  • Technically leading a team of developers, coaching and mentoring them as required
  • Managing and resolving technical impediments and conflicts within the team
  • Contributing to enabler squads as required

What experience/skills/attributes do you need?

Must Have Skills:

  • Excellent skills in either Python ( Django ), Java or both
  • Relational databases ( Postgress, AWS RDS )
  • CI/CD processes and tooling
  • Practical experience of unit/integration testing using TDD, BDD and test automation
  • Experience delivering large-scale, data-driven web applications
  • SOA, Microservices environment
  • Working in Agile teams using scrum / Kanban and variants there of
  • Confident, self-aware and collaborative approach to leading a team

Nice to Have Skills:

  • AWS and SaaS systems
  • DevOps experience within high availability, high scale environments
  • NoSQL Databases ( Casandra )
  • Virtualization / container ( Docker ) environments
  • Test automation ( Selenium, Cucumber, Behave, Lettuce )
