Tom joined our telematics division in 2019 and has had various roles throughout sales since then. As part of his current Key Account Manager role, Tom is participating in our secondment programme.
For three months, he has been overseas at our Lakeland office in Florida, providing valuable insight and helping to create a fully functioning sales team.
We spoke to Tom about his experience…
“My current job role is Key Account Manager, which means I look after our larger telematics customers. I’m usually based in Crewe, but I have been working from our Florida office since September on secondment. I’m assisting in setting up the desk-based sales team, who have welcomed me with open arms and wanted to hear about what we do in the UK.
I wanted to do the secondment for two reasons. One, this was a fantastic opportunity to help grow an office from the start and share my knowledge from my time in sales with the team over here to help them get off on the best foot. Two, I had never been to America before and had always wanted to go; this made the decision one of the easiest ones I have had to make.
I have learnt several new skills whilst on secondment, from building processes to coaching sales agents and seeing massive improvements in their calls.
I would recommend a secondment to anyone. It is an opportunity to not only work in another country but also to experience another culture and enjoy what the area has to offer.”
